Current Fundraisers

Here are the fundraisers that are currently in progress for the ACDA. All or a portion of these fundraisers will be contributed to the Restricted ACD Research Fund at NORD to fund the next ACD research grant. We are trying to achieve $33,500 by March of 2012. Donations and Fundraising in the UK

If you live in the UK, there are a number of options available for funding ACD research through The David Ashwell Foundation, which was created by ACDA members Simon Ashwell and Amelia Lake Ashwell. You can make a donation directly, use the website to gather donations for your fundraiser, fundraise while you shop (The Giving Machine) or when you ebay (ebay for Charity). The funds donated to The David Ashwell Foundation will be transferred to the NORD fund and designated for ACD research only. ACD Awareness Ribbons

Introducing the ACDA awareness ribbon, designed by Raquel Smith and Jason Davis, which is inspired by the unoxygenated blood’s transition from blue, to purple, to red as it is oxygenated. Sadly, this is what the lungs of ACD babies are unable to do.

You can honor your loved one and help raise funds for ACD research by purchasing an ACDA car or refrigerator magnet. All the proceeds from the sales of these items will go to our restricted research account at NORD. Your friends and family may also be interested in purchasing a magnet and you may want to consider buying refrigerator magnets to send to the staff at the NICU where your baby was treated to increase awareness. Think of all the doctors, nurses, ECMO specialists and other medical professionals that will see it!

Car magnets are approximately 5 x 7 inches and are $10.00 each.

Refrigerator magnets are approximately 2 x 4 inches and are $3.00 each (or 4 refrigerator magnets for $10.00).

Shipping in the U.S. is included with orders over $25.00. (Orders under $25.00 will be charged $3.00 shipping to offset postage charges.) Shipping for most international orders is $13.45 but please email your location to Emily to confirm.

"The Answer" CD

Maryann and Ryon Blehr of Charles Town, West Virginia, lost their daughter, Bella, to ACD in January 2010. Maryanne’s cousin, Cami and her husband Randy, began thinking of ways that Bella could be a part of their lives forever, carry on her name (which means beauty), and help search for answers on her cause of death.

The McGraws were getting ready to release a compilation CD of music they had recorded when Bella died from ACD. "The Answer" CD is a tribute to Bella and the McCraws are donating a portion of the proceeds from the CD sales to the restricted ACD research account at The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD). In addition, on the back cover of the CD there is a link to the ACDA website that explains how people can make a donation directly to NORD. Thank you to Cami and Randy for their hours and hours of work to bring this CD to fruition. It has truly been a labor of love in memory of Baby Bella. For more information about this CD, click here.
